Memorial Museum Library is specific in its nature since it collects, preserves and lends printings concerned with the tragedy of Kragujevac, genocide against Serbian people, history of Kragujevac and Sumadija region, as well as printings related to modern history and museology. Established in 1963., Library offers a book fund of more than 3,000 miscellaneous titles, constantly expanded by purchase, publishing, publication exchange with similar institutions and individual donations. Library is in heavy use as a resource for dissertations and research papers by students of all ages, culture officials and public servants as well as the Memorial park employees, thus fulfilling its intended function.
Publishing was commenced with 5,000 copies of a single monography entitled October 21st in 1964., reaching the figures of 86 titles and 2,300,000 book copies in 2008. Two distinct libraries emerged:
- "Kragujevački Oktobar" (Kragujevac October) Library, engaged in periodical publishing of historiographic, journalistic and literary works, and
- "Veliki školski čas" (Great School Lesson) Library, focused on publishing the "Veliki školski čas" magazine, a yearly of the eponymous manifestation printed in 100,000 copies, and the poems performed on stage, printed in 3,000 copies. So far, 27 magazine issues and 23 poems have been published. Currently, Museum publishes informative and advertising material: exhibition catalogs, postcards, badges, booklets, souvenirs, posters, medallions, memo pads, calendars.
